In this guide, I will quickly explain how to complete the “Activate the Contraption” objective during The River’s Fury quest. The quest provides a few hints, though the steps can feel confusing at first and may take several attempts. Let’s get started!
How to Activate the Contraption in The River’s Fury Quest
Start by heading to the wall with the large wheel and inspect it to trigger a short cutscene. Let the cutscene play to the end, since it shows how the mechanism works.
Once it ends, open your Mystic Skills menu and equip the Tai Chi ability.
Move toward the nearby Water Dragonhead Statue, which starts shooting water when activated. Step onto the pressure plate on the other side of the Water Dragonhead to activate it.
Once activated, it will start spouting water. Use your Tai Chi ability to guide the water toward the water wheel.
Aim carefully toward the water wheel, focusing near the yellow paint marking. Once the water hits the contraption, its level will change. It may take a few attempts to aim the water wheel correctly and complete the activation.
This completes the Activate the Contraption objective and allows the quest to progress. The mission tracker will update, and you can continue with The River’s Fury quest.
